Although HSA Southwest Chicago is a new school, opening in the fall of 2014, it is part of an organization with successful track record and history of running successful, STEM-focused charter schools not only in the City of Chicago, but also in similar communities across the Midwest since 1999.
Concept has more than 80 full-time employees in various departments who provide services to the Concept-managed schools. Concept’s main office is located in Schaumburg, IL. HSA Southwest Chicago is modeled on the school design developed by Concept. Concept established its first school in Ohio in 1999 and has since expanded to 30 charter schools spread across Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, and Wisconsin. In this short time, Concept has earned a reputation for establishing effective learning environments—a reputation substantiated in standardized test scores, graduation and college acceptance rates, attendance and retention rates, and parent/student satisfaction.
Although the grade span may vary from school to school, Concept-managed schools serve students from Kindergarten to 12th grade. All of the Concept-managed schools are located in urban settings. Concept-managed schools currently serve more than 14,000 students. Below is the demographics information of the 14,000 students that Concept-managed schools serve across the Midwest along with Concept’s growth data:
